Rules For Goldfish Card Game
How Do You Play Goldfish The Card Game
How to Play The Go Fish rules are very simple, but each household will have its own variation. The traditional Go Fish card game rules are as follows: Each player. Goldfish are a favorite pet for many U.S. Children, but adult supervision is necessary for the maintenance of the goldfish bowl or aquarium. Keep your pet goldfish healthy with regular care. Take this quiz to learn more about caring for your goldfish. People are invited to play 'Swimmington's Monkey Dream Game' online to unlock Swimmington's entire dream. All the flavors of Goldfish are on a camping trip. Each one is snuggled into the finger of a glove when they are awoken by the chocolate-flavored Goldfish playing 'Peer Gynt Suite no.1, Op 46: Morning Mood' by Edvard Grieg on the harmonica.
Goldfish are one of the worlds most popular fish, if not the most popular fish. Because of this, many people have Goldfish tanks. Another natural thought is I need an algae eater. Than, these people with Goldfish tanks get the most popular algae eater, a Pleco. In this blog, I will explain why these two very popular fish can not live in the same aquarium.
Different Temperatures:
These fish are both in two different families. Goldfish are in the cold water fish family, and Plecos are in the tropical fish family. The temperature for these two fish are completely different. Goldfish need cold water from 65 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit, while Plecos need warm water from 78 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Goldfish and Carps hibernate in the winter and can even be under ice if the pond is deep enough. Plecos can not and need to be in warm water. It isnt right to make one of them live in the others ideal conditions, while these conditions might not be suitable for them.
Plecos May Eat The Slime Coat Of A Goldfish:
As Plecos grow older, they may eventually find the slime coat of a goldfish quite tasty. This may not be fatal for the fish, but it is indeed stressful and painful for them. Imagine someone coming and ripping all the hair at once out of your head. It will not kill you, but would you like it?
Big ben casino game . Conclusion:
As said in this blog, Plecos and Goldfish are just not meant to be in the same tank. Imagine having a lion in your house. The lion would probably destroy all your things before possibly eating you. You need to live in a house with furniture, a roof, a bed, a sink, a bathtub, and warm clothes. A lion needs to live in a jungle, with trees to climb on, antelope to eat, and a stream or pond. You both need a different habitat. This is a very similar example to Plecos and Goldfish. They both need their own separate suitable tanks. They dont live with each other in the wild, so why should they be forced to live together in a fishtank?
So.. what do you think? Please leave me a comment.

Vale : I thought only Siamese algae eaters potentially ate the slime coats, not all plecos?
amneris3 : Hmm, I disagree. I think maybe a little more research would be beneficial, versus just opinion. There are hundreds of pleco species and they have varying habitat requirements, so to generalize is not an accurate representation.
KiwiHolly : I think you should add that some plecos grow up to 2-2.5 feet long (the common pleco) and warn people about them since so many people make the mistake of buying them thinking they will remain small..
For the fish : Vale:
Plecos dont always eat the slime coat of a Goldfish but in the blog I said they may. They dont always, but there is a potential risk.
Amneris:
Yes you are right, there are many species of Plecos, but none of them, as far as I know are coldwater. This blog was mostly meant to point out that these two are not the best tank mates, not really a blog to point out how all the types of Plecos do with Goldfish. But you are right that I should have written it more specifically. I will edit that soon. Thanks!
Kiwi:
I will add that soon! Thanks!
ZIVILE : My child has 2 goldfish and pleco. They are perfect. I dont see Pleco would chase after goldfish. Maybe becouse of small tank.
Bearcat : I have a pleco that has cohabitated with my comet goldfish for 4 years now. I have never had a problem. There are 4 comets and one pleco, and they all are 6+' this doesnt seem correct.
Jayjhis : Just because it works for you doesnt mean it will always work.
Getting lucky is not the same as doing things right.
Kim.S : Goldfish are not strictly cold water.. they are actually temperate fish and should be kept between 23-24oc ;-)
Jayjhis :
Kim, thats wrong. Fancy goldfish should be kept in 20-23c which means the warmest temperature for them is the coolest temperature for a pleco. Other types of goldfish should be kept at cooler temperatures than that.
And, temperature isnt the only problem with keeping them together.
carrieP : The fine folks at the aquarium store told me that a bristle nose placo would be just fine in my tank. for three days he appeared to be in the same area sucking on the glass, my two Goldfish (about 3.5 inches about 3 years old) dropped to the bottom of the tank and stayed there. they just laid on the bottom, I fed them peas, I gave epson salt bath, my water tested just fine, I did water changes, every day they were worse. turns out that at night the Pleco tormented, scratched, chased, sucked the slime coat, and ripped out their tails. I took that **** back to the fish store. everyone couldnt believe what happened. 'thats very unusual' but the Trauma and injury to my goldies was too much. My telescope died and now Im watching my fancy tailed calico float at the top, hover.. hes probably going to die too. NEVER put a pleco in with your peaceful goldfish.
SamHydedidElPaso : Ive had common plecos in a cold water tank with goldfish. Until I decided to sell, everything was in order. My goldfish were fine, as were my plecos. Im sure that the temperatures you are referring to resemble temperatures more suited to the Algae Eater, not the pleco.
FinalFins : Hi,
What species is a algae eater?
A pleco is a algae eater. Algae eater means they will CONSUME algal growth.
Just because the pleco was in a cold water tank doesnt mean I liked being there. To us its like stuck in a freezer for life.
Annie : I have two Plecos and catfish with 3 goldfish have had them for a year now no heater and I got opposite advice that they are good pairing because Plecos can handle the cold water they work wonderfully together
KinkajoudaBetta : Annie, what kind of catfish and what size tank?
Depending on the type of goldfish, fancies can live in warmer temps and I think plecos can live with fancy goldies, but commons are a definite no-no.
bob : Plecos can live with goldfish I have a 150 gallon tank with 2 plecos and several goldfish and they work perfect and I have no problems with them and if you have your tank that high with other fish in there they will probably die in 2 week if that and Ive never heard this before so unless you have a tank with those two in there you shouldnt post anything about it
Purdy : I got a bristlenose pleco 4 months ago and I put him in a 30gal tank with my 3 common goldfish who are roughly 6 inches long. Theyve done perfectly fine so far, and Ive read that bristlenose plecos do great with goldfish.
Carley :
Purdy. Please read this. Replace the Carnival with the word Common. https://www.myaquariumclub.com/so-you-won-a-carnival-goldfish-the-basics-of-goldfish-care-5613.html Just suggesting you might be interested in a larger tank for your Goldfish.
Purdy : I dont have much room in my house and not enough money to afford a larger tank..
They are still small for the 30gal tank I have, well at least to me they do.
Purdy : And Ill be saving up for another 30gal tank for my perch once he gets bigger.
Derrick The Walker :
Dude this is completely wrong. Ive literally watched my Plecos + Goldfish all in the same tank, grow from babies to big fish together, they get along well.
Shirley : I agree with you say about most plecos, but some may thrive with them. There are only two types of pleco species that may thrive with Goldfish. 1) LongFin, 2) Rubber-Lipped , However as long as you feed your plecos enough nutrition, they will leave your Goldfish alone. As they said be aware for the look out for sores. Plecos can be territorial if not enough hiding spots, and may bite on the Goldfish. I only say this because, I have two goldfish and two plecos living together. I had them for three months, they are mostly harmless. Unless otherwise, what I have mentioned earlier.
EJEdwards : So thankful to find this article, was just about to buy a Plecos to clean the bottom of our aquarium. I have made this mistake in almost all my fish tanks in the past never aware of the fact made within your communication. Just put live plants in our aquarium yesterday; last night checked to see if they were still in place, happily, they were only to see them pulled up floating, after all, that sub-straight and hard work!!! In need of plants that they will not pull up, eat, that are alive to add oxygen and beauty to our tank. Finding your article is right on time concerning the information provided, thank you!
Frog : I think that fish like goldfish need to be in tanks alone, never with pleco. You may try it, but would you like it if someone slapped your enemy who many rip all your hair out, and shoved you both in the arctic? I think that answer is no.
PS: not trying to sound rude or anything
richythefish : I currently have a common pleco and a glow fish in my tank. I had a gold fish that lived together with the common for 6+ years. there was no problem between them. only last week my goldfish died.RIP cheeseball
Rubber_duck :
Ive got a plec who I rescued from a titchy pet shop tank with a lot of waste piling around him. Since it was cold water I kept him in a temperate tank. When I got him he was less than a half inch. Its been three months, he is close to 3 inches long and he has since been moved into a large goldfish tank of my grandmas and he has been perfect, mainly because there is tons of hiding places, plants and bogwood. I know that its not ideal but I tried drip acclimating him to tropical as she should be in and he didnt like it one bit hence the goldfish tank. This will help me in the future though. He was a spur of the moment thing, I couldnt bear to see him suffer.
Rubber_duck : Care to explain why Im a derp
u derp : ravage

richythefish : so leave and do your yammering somewhere else yhis isnt th place to argue and call people derps
Jo M. : Please be civil. Rubber_duck was simply sharing a story.
T - mo : Ive had a common precocious with two black moor goldfish in my tank for two months now and they all seem happy and seem to keep to themselves
GFAJ : Hey T-mo
No one said that they would fight But once you keep these fish together at least one of them is bound to be unhappy. We are not saying that they will die but they will be unhappy and will not thrive. Please rehome one of them
Jo M. : The pleco range is 74-80 degrees Fahrenheit.
The black moor range is 65-72 degrees Fahrenheit.
The two arent compatible.
I suggest either re-homing one of them or setting up two tanks.
By the way, how big is said tank?
oshif : My 2 plecos (22 and 18 y.o.) live with 2 gold fishes for 16 years in 60 gallon tank. All four of them huge now, bought as babies.
mr P : I found this interesting because I have had a rescue spotted high fin Pleco in with my four goldfish for 7 years now, maybe he is just one of the 200 or so different varieties of plecos that can thrive with goldfish, as I mentioned he is a rescue and didnt really have a choice in his environment, but he is happy.. Go Fish Four cards of the same face value are known as a 'book', and the aim of the game is to collect these Alternative name Fish Type Matching Players 25 Skills required Matching and pairing, memory [1] Age range 4-10 [1] Cards 52 (54 counting Jokers) Deck French Play Variable sequence Playing time 5-15 minutes Random chance Low-Medium skill [1] Related games Happy Families
Go Fish or Fish is a trick-taking card game usually played by two to five players, [2] although it can be played with up to 10 players. It can be played in about 5 to 15 minutes. The game [ edit ]
Five cards are dealt from a standard 52-card deck (54 Counting Jokers) to each player, or seven cards if there are three or fewer players. [3] The remaining cards are shared between the players, usually spread out in a disorderly pile referred to as the 'ocean' or 'pool'. [3]
The player whose turn it is to play asks another player for their cards of a particular face value. For example, Player A may ask, 'Player B, do you have any threes?' Player A must have at least one card of the rank they requested. [4] Player B must hand over all cards of that rank if possible. If they have none, Player B tells Player A to 'go fish' (or just simply 'fish'), and Player A draws a card from the pool and places it in their own hand. Then it is the next player's turn unless the card Player A drew is the card they asked for, in which case they show it to the other players, and they get another turn. When any player at any time has four cards of one face value, it forms a book, and the cards must be placed face up in front of that player. [5] [6] Play proceeds to the left. [7] When all sets of cards have been laid down in books, the game ends. The player with the most books wins. [3] Variations [ edit ]
Forum holy moly 2 . There are a number of variations of these basic rules:
A player gives only one card when asked.
A player forms and lays down pairs instead of 4-card books.
A player whose call is unsuccessful and draws the card being asked for does not get another turn.
A player asks for a specific card instead of a rank. A player must still have at least one card of the named rank in order to ask, and must expose that card when asking. This is similar to Happy Families.
If the other players got all their matches and one player has a card left while no more go-fish cards to draw, the player with the remaining card loses the game.
Books are saved by each player, face down. When the main play is finished, a further stage of play starts, with the player who has most books. That player may ask another player for a rank that they remember that player has; if correct they win the pair; if incorrect, play passes to the other player. The winner is the player who has eventually collected a pair of every rank.
Jokers can be used to create a pair by asking another player if they have any jokers in their hand. Two jokers form one pair.
Instead of going round in a circle the turn switches to the person saying go fish. Strategy [ edit ] Rules For Goldfish Card Game
If, when fishing, a player draws a rank they did not have, they should ask for it on their next turn. Otherwise, they should rotate among the ranks that they already hold. In the more difficult variants, strategy often requires memorizing which cards each player possesses. Unlike many card games, Go Fish depends on the honor system; lying about the contents of one's hand is difficult to prevent.
It is often beneficial for the player to conceal the cards they hold in order to prevent other players from knowing which cards they can ask for. This can be accomplished by consistently asking different players for the same rank of card. Wile e coyote crash . Special card decks [ edit ]
Instead of using a standard 52 playing card deck, various specialty decks have been manufactured including the 169 count playing card Kids Classic Go Fish Card Game by U.S. Games Systems. Other specialist card packs which can be used to play similar games have also been produced including the Safari Pals packs which use animal characteristics to form the sets and packs which use personalized names to form the sets.
There is a similar game called Quartets. See also [ edit ]
